Top10-Nov2024

  1. Jazz Sabbath - I’m not a huge fan of lounge/jazz/bossanova/etc versions of pop and rock songs. I like my lounge/jazz/bossanova like I like my whiskey: straight, no ice, no bullshit. But I am a fan of Black Sabbath to a degree that is likely unhealthy so there we have it at number one.
  2. Scientists Against Plastic - All’s you even have to know is that this is even a thing.
  3. The Enlightenment of the Greengage Tree (Shokoofeh Azar) - This positive mindfuck of a novel, an absolute trip of a tumble though the view of a 13 year old girl in various states of living or un-living all the while the Iranian Islamic Revolution is going on. For added effect there are fairies and mermaids and magic as much as there is book burning and summary political executions.
  4. Mapzilla
  5. Strange Places in Finland along with every encounter with Finish people I’ve ever had makes me love this place more and more. Imagine you were from a country that had a place called “Swamp of the Moldy Ass.” Just imagine you were so not bothered about just about anything, whether it be invasion, bears, frostbite, bad sauna vibes, whatever, that you just call a place what it is.
  6. Krampusnacht and any other light hearted, holiday season demons for kids entertainment in the central and eastern Alpine regions.
  7. Repulsion “Radiation Sickness” - I’m getting notes of early, “Scum” era Naplam Death, late thrash crossover, and what is that, oak? I think notes of stolen whiskey, pain killers. Florals somehow, I’m getting florals. Maybe not oak.
  8. The Liminanas
  9. BBC Earth - Imagine Discovery and NatGeo had a baby. Now imagine, with the exception of “Alaskan Bush People,” it’s a very self aware, conscious, safe and non-offensive baby that is politely curious and causes you to not be troubled one bit about just about anything. It’s such a light experience that makes even David Attenborough’s (melo)drama seem offensive.
  10. Song Exploder episode 282: Le Tigre “Deceptacon” podcast - I don’t know what it is about this song, but it’s been around forever, and I never had a clue about the origin, etc. Great story about a proper ear worm.
