One of the things we learned during the research I had run at Samsung Design Europe looking at enabling older Europeans through mobile technology was that a lot of times one of the biggest problems older users had with mobile phone user interfaces was understanding hierarchal menus.

This is also true for most other people as well – menus – finding things and not getting lost and executing functions. This dead simple solution uses sets of simple commands from the home screen. Why would you have to navigate through three levels of navigation when you could just say “Add Contact” which is what you want to do?
